happy 2012

I am so very thankful for 2012 for boundless reasons, but mostly because it saw me become a mommy. I am so looking forward to + ready to take on 2013! Who's with me!?!
What’s to {hopefully} come in 2013:
  • More road trips.
  • Try a new sport.
  • Create + cook new recipes.
  • Run a 5k.
  • Take more candid pictures.
  • New creative ventures.
  • More blogging. Amen.
  • Form new friendships + foster existing ones.
  • Finally complete my son's nursery.
  • Tackle some DIY projects.
  • Send out note cards, just because.
  • Be kinder, nicer, happier, sweeter. Always.
Thank all of you for your continued support. Here’s to another great year! Wishing everyone a year full of health, prosperity, wealth, and happiness. See you back here in 2013!

the new york city wine and food festival {nycwff}

the new york city wine and food festival
Larry and I had the honor of attending the Food Network's New York City Wine + Food Festival's Grand Tasting two weekends ago. This event is held every year in October, and this was their 5th year. I won tickets via Twitter for Mastercard's Priceless NY Experience. If I were to sum up the event in one word: PRICELESS! My favorites were the culinary demos with Paula Deen, Andrew Zimmern, and Rachael Ray as well as the seafood samples and the strip house steak with creamed spinach. I had way too many wine samples to remember which one I liked the best, but one drink that did stand out was the Licor 43 with heavy cream a.k.a. "little beer." Wow! To say this "little beer" was tasty is an understatement. If you want to try it, check out this quick and easy recipe. To see more snapshots of the event, including more of what we ate, go to my Instagram

style stalker : anna dello russo

In honor of Anna Dello Russo and H&M's collaboration debuting today, it was only fitting that I feature the leading lady in this month's Style Stalker. She's a Fashion Director and Creative Consultant at Vogue in Japan by day, and a "passionate fashionista" by night. Her style lends towards the eccentric and she has even been termed as a "fashion maniac." She is known for her ginormous shoe collection and has been quoted saying "nothing succeeds like excess." Nobody does it quite like Anna.

fall inspiration 2012

It's no secret that I look forward to the Fall season with much anticipation. So, with the start of Autumn just a few days away, I compiled a few inspirational looks to get me even more excited. Some key trends for Fall '12 we've been seeing are: leather (which I'm a huge fan of), black + blue, print mixing, menswear turned feminine pieces, military {camo}, deep rich red + burgundy hues. Below are a few examples of how to wear them. By the way, you'll notice I have way more leather outfits than any other. I love leather, so that's no coincidence. :)

the last days of summer

Blazer: Aqua for Bloomingdale's {similar} | Top: vintage | Shorts: Joe's Jeans {similar}
Wedges: Stuart Weitzman | Bag: BCBG Max Azria | Hat: H&M
Jewelry: vintage + Anthropologie necklaces, vintage bracelets

I spent the day with my little man and hubby at Central Park last week. The day was beautiful for late August, with not a cloud in sight nor humidity. There was virtually no green space on the grass as every New Yorker stepped out to catch some rays, either during their lunch hour or on their way home.

I love the summertime, but I am really looking forward to the Fall season. I love autumn in New York. I am most looking forward to the changing leaves, Pumpkin Spice Latte {oh yeah!}, taking my son apple and pumpkin picking {although we'll be doing the picking this year}, crisp and cool days {perfect for jogging}, Noah's first Halloween {smile), hot apple cider {makes my heart smile}, the return of favorite Fall TV shows {and new ones}, and NYFW {New York Fashion Week}. Unfortunately, I will be missing all of the NYFW activities this year. Womp! Womp! Are any of you going? If you are, don't forget to check out all the happenings, the schedules, and who is where here and here
