We finally got a chance to head out to Dekalb Market, a shipping container market, in Brooklyn and we are glad we did because as of today it closes for good. A new housing development and a Century 21 department store will open in its place. Womp, womp! As of now there are no set plans to reopen the Market anywhere else. It was kind of disappointing to learn of this, as the concept of the place is pretty cool. They have local shops and food vendors set up in old shipping containers, park picnic benches for customers, local DJ's playing old school music, and a great ambiance to boot. If you are in the NYC area, go check it out before it's going...going...gone!

the last days of summer

Wedges: Stuart Weitzman | Bag: BCBG Max Azria | Hat: H&M
Jewelry: vintage + Anthropologie necklaces, vintage bracelets

I spent the day with my little man and hubby at Central Park last week. The day was beautiful for late August, with not a cloud in sight nor humidity. There was virtually no green space on the grass as every New Yorker stepped out to catch some rays, either during their lunch hour or on their way home.

I love the summertime, but I am really looking forward to the Fall season. I love autumn in New York. I am most looking forward to the changing leaves, Pumpkin Spice Latte {oh yeah!}, taking my son apple and pumpkin picking {although we'll be doing the picking this year}, crisp and cool days {perfect for jogging}, Noah's first Halloween {smile), hot apple cider {makes my heart smile}, the return of favorite Fall TV shows {and new ones}, and NYFW {New York Fashion Week}. Unfortunately, I will be missing all of the NYFW activities this year. Womp! Womp! Are any of you going? If you are, don't forget to check out all the happenings, the schedules, and who is where here and here

silver + gold

Shorts: Joe's Jeans {last worn here} | Top: Forever 21 | Sandals: J.Crew
Jewelry: vintage Rhinestone Necklace | J.Crew Bracelet {similar},
vintage snake bracelet and cabochon cuff

I was having a conversation via Twitter this past week about accessorizing silver and gold jewelry and how in the past I used to shy away from mixing the two. But, no longer. I find that this combination, if done correctly, creates a classy look. What do you guys think?

Hope you're having a fabulous weekend!

Fall is one of my favorite seasons, by far. I love when the leaves start to turn color; the cool breeze on my face; the smells of baking cookies, hot apple cider and pumpkin lattes; wearing comfy, knit sweaters; TV show season premieres; not to mention it's great sleeping weather. You can throw on a light sweater, a scarf, or in my case a faux fur collar with a classic button down and look polished and chic. But one other reason I look forward to Fall is that I can break out my tights. I have a huge collection of tights and I buy new ones every year. It's something I've been doing for years. I love to buy ones with different patterns, zig zags, stripes, polka dots, in fashion colors and whatever strikes my eye. These fun leopard tights are just another addition to my ever growing collection; I'm already thinking of the many ways to transition them into the coming winter months. They can turn an otherwise simple outfit and make it pop. Fashion should be fun. Don't take it too seriously.
