As the old adage goes, 'April Showers...bring May Flowers!' I sure hope so because the way things are going, it doesn't look like very many blooms are in our very near future. I'm sure you're about to chuck up your last meal if you hear one more time what a loooong winter we've had from yet another blogger, so I'll spare you. You're welcome. :)  Day after day can affect even the happiest person, so to help brighten your mood (and mine) on those gray days I've compiled a few things to help you stay stylish and dry during the spring storms ahead.

Happy Tuesday, loves! I wore this outfit to a friend's happy hour birthday event last week.  

I always enjoy having girl "play time" filled with lots of laughs, talking, and drinks. Despite my being married and since becoming a mommy, I have never stopped having me time or time out with my girlfriends. My priority will always be my child and my husband; but I don't and never will believe you have to give those things up and thank God Larry feels the same way. It's important for the relationship, and for your own sanity. It helps me be a better mommy to my son and a better wife to my husband. I know Larry appreciates it and I'm sure if Noah could talk he would say the same thing :) 

In other news, how cute are these heels!? Remember my cap toe obsession a few weeks ago?! A few days after, I walked into Target {which has become our favorite store, btw} and saw these on the clearance rack! They were the only ones left in my size, so naturally I snatched them right up! I love a good bargain and I foresee these will be on constant rotation this Spring and Summer.

My little family headed into the city for a perfect Autumn day of fun. On a whim, we stopped by the Highline, which for those of you who are not in the NYC area, is a public space park built on a historic freight rail line. Pretty cool huh?! I enjoy when my husband Larry, who is a train aficionado, passionately tells me the story behind the rail - admittedly, he has to recount the story many times because let's face it; with my mommy brain these days, nothing sticks. {smile} 

The Highline was in operation from 1934-1980 and was originally planned to take the freight trains off the streets. This is where trains used to run into the Meatpacking District to drop off meats, produce, milk, and other goods to be sold to the local markets. Read all about the history here. Diane Von Furstenberg even designs a line for the park. 

We even stopped over to try Blue Bottle Coffee. They individually prepare drip coffee and they are passionate about it. As a self-proclaimed coffee addict, I must say I was pretty impressed with how delicious and tasty their coffee was. It makes all the other coffee I've ever had taste like water. Seriously. I can't even explain it, you'll have to try it yourself. 

If you do stop in, I totally recommend getting their New Orleans Iced Coffee and the Ginger Molasses or Double Chocolate cookie. Yum!

P.S. We are expecting a big hurricane here in the Northeast. It's predicted to be worse than last year's Irene.

I've said it before; New York has some of the best art forms, graffiti walls, and sculptures. And you can find one form or another at almost every corner, so the need to stop and snap a great photo is virtually guaranteed. If you haven't already guessed, hubby and I love any opportunity to try out a new place for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. We don't discriminate. This particular Sunday, we ventured out to  Brooklyn to try out some tasty brunch and we were not disappointed. The weather was one of the chilliest on record for this winter, but it did not stop us from walking around and burning off some calories afterwards. After all, this city is perfect for that. 

*P.S. I picked up this knit top at a J. Crew outlet and it is so comfy and fits perfectly over my baby belly; I'm kicking myself because I should have picked one up in every color! Live and learn.

My favorite month is here. December not only houses my favorite holiday {Christmas} but it's also my birthday month. This month is full of holiday parties, get togethers, potluck dinners, and birthday celebrations for us. It's going to be a busy one and I already have a few holiday outfits planned with these Zara boots! I took them out for a walk the other day as the temperatures here lately are nothing short of spectacular; this past week we had a record high of 70 and when temps are that "high" New Yorkers automatically pull out the leather. Who am I kidding; NY'ers don't ever need a reason to break out the leather! It's supposed to start cooling back down so it was a short but sweet treat. Hope everyone is having a fabulous week!

This weekend my husband, Larry, and I decided to venture across the river to New Jersey to a diner made famous by Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives {a.k.a. Triple D}. Yes, we watch that show religiously. This place coins themselves Brownstone Diner & Pancake Factory and you know any place that calls themselves a pancake FACTORY has to live up to certain expectations, right!? Being a pancake lover myself I, of course, had to try one of their 31 choices of gourmet pancake offerings. I went the simplistic route and chose the Banana Pancakes. Not only were they HUGE; they were also delicious! I could only get about 1/2 of it down before the food coma promptly hit me. What we do for yummy goodness! Our trek back into the city had us stop at the Highline in the Meatpacking District to snap some photos {and burn some calories} before the sun went down. It was a perfect, cool + crisp Fall Day! It wasn't planned, but my outfit matched the fall tone day perfectly. And, as always, play time goes by too quickly. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. :)
